Each year’s Free Agent Draft will be conducted in the AUCTION format.
Each team’s auction budget is equal to their Salary Cap (minus) Total Team Salary. No team may go over its Salary Cap during the draft. Example: Team A has $80M in re-signed players going into the 2018-19 ARBYS Free Agent Auction Draft. The 2018-19 Salary Cap is $124M, so Team A has a $44M budget to build the rest of their roster.
The minimum bid for any player is $1 million. All bids must be in increments of $1 million.
The winning bid for each player becomes their Player Contract salary and is added to their new team’s Total Team Salary.
Nomination order is in simple reverse order of the previous season's standings.
Owners have 30 seconds to nominate a player. The bid timer is also 30 seconds, and is reset to at least 20 seconds with each new high bid.
FANTRAX DRAFT PROCESS
Since we use separate player pools for each conference, Fantrax requires that we create “copy” leagues for each conference to hold their respective auction drafts.
Sometime around October 1, after the RFA Deadline, the League Commissioner will create two copy leagues, one for each division, for draft purposes only. All owners and players will be automatically copied to each league at first, but the Commissioner will erase one conference from one league and vice versa so that teams are only in one draft copy league each.
Each conference's official draft time and date will be posted in their respective draft copy leagues only. The official ARBYS League Page will only show rookie draft picks.
Player salaries will be reduced in draft leagues so that salaries are in single dollar amounts (i.e. $1 instead of $1,000,000). This is to help owners during the auction not have to type out seven zeroes for every bid. Player salaries will be reflected in the millions on the official ARBYS League Page.
Once drafts are completed, the League Commissioner will import the results to the official ARBYS League Page using the Fantrax system.
